Thankful Thursday

I know, I know, it is technically Friday. I am a wee bit behind! We went home to Canada last weekend, and between that and our growing puppies (I will post new photos soon!) I am exhausted. So here I find myself forcefully awake at almost 4am, and I must get caught up! And to Heather, I promise I will carry on with the tagging, but it won't be until Saturday that I get to that.

1. I am thankful that I have had so many wonderful friends and family come into my life. To celebrate finding the love of my life and the marriage we entered together was awesome! I was so grateful to all of the people who travelled up to Barrie to celebrate with us, they have all touched my life in an incredible way.

2. I am thankful that I got to spend a couple of precious days with my only sibling. He surprised me by walking in the door to our reception, and many tears ensued. I haven't seen my brother for three years, and he is having a little more than a rough patch in his life. So it was wonderful to see him and reassure him that family ties run deep, no matter the distance between us. I will see you again soon brother!

3. I am truly grateful to see a unique and special relationship growing between my son and his new step-father. My new husband has become the role model that Jon needs in his life during these crazy teenage years. And he has done it without reservation. I can't imagine what it must be like learning to be a parent when you miss everything up to age 14, but Greg has done this with grace and responsibility. He is teaching my son what the meaning of integrity is in this challenging world.

4. I am thankful that even though I do not have the right to cast a vote in this nation I now call home, that I was able to witness a nation get past old but not forgotten inequalities. Now citizens of all colours and backgrounds will know that anything is possible.

That's it for today. I promise to catch up and get back on track this weekend. For now there is a little baby that requires my attention and focus.
